The Metzeler ME 888 Marathon Ultra Tyre is specifically designed for custom touring bikes and is an ultra-high mileage tyre, coupled with typical Metzeler performance and handling.

Metzeler designed combined structure, profile, tread pattern and compound to determine the characteristics of the Tyres. The structure shape features a flat and wide geometry that allows any stress generated in the footprint to be dissipated towards the sidewall, reducing the fatigue and the wear process. To increase wear regularity, the transversal grooves of the tread pattern are discontinued by ‘compound bridges’, allowing the Tyre to have a solid and stiff Tread Design that reduces the stress transmitted to the belts and carcass plies. Also the edges of grooves are critical areas for wear regularity. The groove walls have different inclination to ensure the best operating angle in every position. The polymers of the compound are abrasion resistant, providing higher resistance to wear and hence high mileage. Longitudinal grooves have been included for water evacuation and even wear.
The tread pattern of ME 888 Marathon Ultra is an evolution of that of ME 880 with the target to ensure a high level of water evacuation whilst increase wear uniformity across the whole tread. There is also a relevant content of Silica in the compound formulation which ensures chemical grip on wet surfaces.
The ME 888 uses an innovative belt structure with a single ply of steel cords wrapped around a radial carcass at 0° (patented high performance technology by Metzeler for both front and rear tyres). This steel radial belt reduces the dynamic deformation of the tyre under centrifugal forces giving the tyre an excellent high-speed stability. Thanks to the more uniform heat distribution, mileage is increased and wear characteristics are more uniform. “Metzeler Advanced Winding” is a patented system for optimum spacing between the cords of the 0° steel belt. In certain sections of the tyre, the steel cords are wound with different spacing depending on the performance requirements on that particular area of the tyre. On both front and rear tyre the spacing is wider in the crown area for more elasticity and self-damping. For sections of the tyre used for mid lean, there is increased stiffness to support fast cornering. On the shoulder area on the rear tyre, the spacing is again wider for safe feedback and control when riding towards full lean.

We endeavour to despatch all our orders either the same day or within 1 working day of receipt, with very few exceptions. However, we cannot give an exact delivery date. In most circumstances UK parcels/packets under 2kg, and less than £150 in value, will be sent by Royal Mail first class mail, parcels over this weight and value would be sent by Parcel Force and should be delivered in 1 to 2 working days. Overseas parcels/packets up to 2kg, and less than £50 in value, will be sent by airmail small packets. Parcels over this weight and value will be sent by an international carrier service; this will depend on the weight, value and the destination country.

UK Mail
For our UK customers, as a general rule, we use Royal mail First class mail if the parcel/packet is under 2kg and less than £150 in value. Orders shipped with Royal Mail should arrive within 5 working days to UK Mainland. Above these values, the parcel will be sent using Parcel Force or DHL Parcel and should be delivered within one to two working days.
Overseas and International Orders
Overseas and International parcels/packets below 2kg in weight and £150 in value can be sent tracked or without tracking using Royal Mail or DHL Global Mail. Above 2kg, above £150 or upon request, we offer a selection of international carrier services including tracking options and express delivery. If you do not request a specific delivery option, we will always choose the most cost effective service depending on location and package size. We offer a tracked service using Parcel Force or an express tracked service through DHL. For information regarding customs duty, fees and taxes, please view our full delivery information.
As the lockdown restrictions are beginning to be eased by the government in England, we have taken the decision to re-open our click and collect facility for our customers.
It is still necessary that we follow the guidance from the government concerning social distancing for retail shops so we are setting out the following conditions that must be adhered to by all to help protect you, the customer, and our staff.

All orders must be placed over the phone or internet and paid for in full using credit/debit card prior to collection.
