Carberry Vibration Reduction Plate for EFI and UCE Engines
Engine vibration has long been recognised as a problem with certain Royal Enfield unit construction machines. There are two significant causes of vibration in the EFI/UCE engine. As a big single without a balance shaft it is inevitable that there will be reciprocating mass vibration although often this is not a major problem. A second recognised source of vibration with this engine is the crankshaft arrangement. On the right side of the engine the crankshaft is supported by only one bearing. The crankshaft overhangs this single bearing by approximately 120mm – equal to approximately 4/9th of its total length (approximately 270mm). Additionally the unsupported overhanging section of the crankshaft carries significant loading with the rotor and flywheel sited on the extreme end of the crankshaft.
The Carberry Company have addressed this problem with a [VRP]. The plate incorporates a radial cylindrical roller bearing supporting the crankshaft outboard of the cams considerably reducing the unsupported loading.
The VRP fits in place of the original Cam Steady Plate. Provided the supplied instructions are carefully followed the fitting of the VRP is a straightforward job for the competent home mechanic.
Hitchcocks Motorcycles are pleased to be appointed the sole distributor for Europe of the Carberry VRP. Part number 92498 at £44.50 plus postage and VAT
